New commercial and housing buildings in London only last an average of 30 years.
This is not a sustainable approach and the project is a response to this problematic.
Here, the architecture is a combination of a resiliant skeleton and an ephimeral skin. This approach not only creates an aesthetic of contrasts but also enables the structure to be adapted and offset its carbon footprint.
During the design process it was understood that in order for the concrete structure to last more than the average new building it would need not only quality materials but a design that would enable it to both be adapted and apreciated by the public. For this reason the skeleton is thought as a space making series of walls that shape both the internal space and the street whilst carrying structural loads.
